Who was Dr. Dog?

Dr Dog, otherwise known as Charlie, is the star of series of short (approximately 5 minutes long) educational films on aspects of healthcare law and ethics produced previously by Dr Zoe and now by the AdsFoundation.

Series one explains the NHS Constitution; series two explains key concepts in medical law and ethics and series three, explains the three key models of disability; the medical, social and the Human Rights Model used and promoted by the United Nations. Further series will follow.

The aim the #LearnWithDrDog film series is to explain key elements of healthcare law and ethics in accessible, easy to remember and fun ways, with Dr Dog starring as the teacher.

#LearnWithDrDog films are used in healthcare education by nursing and medical schools and by NHS organisations. They are free to use for educational and training purposes, but a donation to AdsFoundation for their use, to enable further films to be made, is greatly appreciated.

Charlie, the star of the films, was Adam’s dog. Adam got Charlie when Adam was six years old and they very soon became close friends. Charlie developed a close bond with Adam and taught himself to alert when Adam had a healthcare crisis. Charlie also developed exceptional football skills and a wonderfully gentle and caring personality. Adam wrote a beautiful award winning poem about Charlie.  Charlie sadly died in November 2021, but thankfully after a long and very happy life.
