The Adam Bojelian Foundation CIC (AdsFoundation) is a community interest company (CIC) registered in England and Wales, incorporated under the Companies Act 2006 with the business name of AdsFoundation.
Community Interest Company
To register as a CIC, we had to show the Registrar of Companies that activities would benefit the community. The assets of a CIC are ‘locked in’. This means that any profit made by AdsFoundation must be reinvested into the AdsFoundation. It also means that should AdsFoundation at any time in future stop operating the assets of AdsFoundation must go to a good cause, not back to Adam’s family. At the point of registration Adam’s parents had to nominate the potential recipients of any assets for approval by the Registrar of Companies. Adam’s parents nominated two charities closely linked to Adam to be the joint recipients of any assets should AdsFoundation cease to operate at any point in future. Not only did Adam have a close personal link to both these organisations, they also represent his key passions of literature, healthcare and the best lives possible for disabled children and their families.

Foundation
Adam not only inspires everything AdsFoundation does, but he also funds its work. Adam acquired cerebral palsy and his associated health problems following catastrophic errors in the management of Adam’s birth. He acquired his disability according to expert neurologists, 30 minutes following his birth. The hospital where Adam was born was open and honest about this serious series of failings and suggested that Adam should be paid compensation to enable him to meet the huge additional costs that comes with living life with very severe physical impairment and to compensate Adam for the pain and suffering he would go on to suffer as a result of the ill health he acquired. It took many years for this compensation to be paid. AdsFoundation is funded by Adam in keeping with his wish that his family should do all in their power, following his death to ensure that others did not suffer as he did.
Management
Adam’s parents Dr Zoe Picton-Howell and Paul Bojelian are the directors of AdsFoundation. Zoe is responsible for the day to day management of AdsFoundation, creates its resources and provides the education and training and other services offered. Paul is the finance director.
